Online Tennis Course

Understand the game. Play with Flow.

Tennis is not complicated. It is a game of motion, and there's no mystery to how motion works.

Make your shot or miss it. They’re two sides of the same coin.

Knowing the why everything works is the difference between learning to play well and being stuck.

The Main Struggle in Learning Tennis

  • You try to use correct technique, but you rarely hit the way you want.

  • You constantly think about how to hit the ball instead of just playing.

  • You've been taking lessons and practicing for years, but your level hasn't improved much.

Slow improvement is not a talent problem. It comes from a lack of understanding.

A building would collapse if its engineers had no understanding of the foundation that holds everything together.

Your game has no chance to flourish if you don't understand yours.

There are two paths to learning

Path 1: Memorize positions. Analyze every movement. Force results. Improvement drags.

Path 2: Understand the why. Develop awareness. Feel motion as a whole. Improve naturally.

Most players are on Path 1, because it's the more familiar approach to learning. It's all about using recipes. On the surface these instructions might make sense. But they don't work well when you don't understand how they connect to the big picture.

Let's look at an example. A long arm extension upon contact is common advice for tennis players. So, the student is thinking about extending their arm. While they're micromanaging their arm's movements, they have fewer mental resources to notice other things. What happens when they let the ball get close to their body? Can they physically extend their arm?

Path 2 is the path of alignment. Seeing how everything connects. There is no part without the whole, and the whole is in every part. Your arm will naturally extend if you understand two things: 1) your body needs space to move freely, 2) the ball only responds to the motion you give it. Hitting through the ball and finding the space is what you'll focus on. The extension happens on its own, simply because you know where you want your swing to move and when.

  • Testimonial by Vesa Ponkka, Founder and President of JTCC

Leo worked for us at JTCC in 2015. He helped launch a new after-school tennis program and provided high-quality training to our students. Leo knows what he’s talking about and brings great energy and understanding to his coaching.

  • Testimonial by a public figure (name withheld by request)

I played with Leo almost every day for about a year. Unlike all the other tennis coaches I’ve hit with in the past, Leo didn’t have me doing lots of drills or constantly working on my individual shots. Instead, we focused much more on finding the “flow” of my game. We would hit, and he would ask me questions designed to help me understand the mechanics of my shots or my current mindset, and then we’d hit some more. By asking the right questions about my game, he helped me discover the answers I needed to improve. This guided form of self-learning really changed my game and gave me a framework to continue developing.

  • Testimonial by a public figure (name withheld by request)

"I originally reached out to Leo just looking to hit, but after a few sessions I was totally blown away. Leo was on the tour and hitting with someone at this level is not an everyday thing. Leo is completely unconventional. His skill level allows you to let your body learn biomechanically. The majority of Leo's advice was mental and to work on removing the mental from my play. I played with Leo multiple times per week for over a year and he completely transformed my game."
